Tom Benson Chevy is very happy to announce that the new 2012 Chevy Sonic has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick. Tom Benson Chevy is one of the leading Chevy dealerships in San Antonio and they offer many new and used Chevy vehicles.

The 2012 Chevy Sonic achieved top scores of “good” in all four of the tests that were performed. These tests included frontal offset and side impact. The Sonic also has StabiliTrak electronic stability control, which is required of all the vehicles that receive a Top Safety Pick.

The IIHS tests vehicles to determine how well the vehicle protects people in front and side crashes. There are also tests for a rollover, via a roof strength test and there are simulated rear impact tests for evaluating seat and head restraints.

The Sonic features a body structure that incorporates a single welded side ring unit and has 10 air bags. Over 60 percent of the car safety cage has high-strength steel.

The Sonic exceeds expectations in regards to its safety. Safety features include a LATCH Safety System (Lower Anchors and Top tethers for Children); six months of complimentary OnStar Directions and Connections service, including stolen vehicle assistance and automatic crash response, and power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes with panic brake assist technology.
