American Reading Company Names Kenneth George as Account Manager for North Central Georgia and Eastern Alabama

Bruce Bierwirth, EVP of Sales for American Reading Company, announced today that Kenneth George has been named Account Manager for North Central Georgia and Eastern Alabama. In this position, Mr. George will work to expand the company’s nationally recognized award-winning programs to school districts across the two states. Today, more than a million students in 2,100 schools across 420 districts in 41 states participate in the company’s programs. The newly adopted Common Core State Standards serve as the structural model for all American Reading Company instructional resources and professional development solutions, which include ACTION 100 and 100 BOOK CHALLENGE.
Mr. George has worked in education serving Greenville County Schools in South Carolina for over a decade. For five years he worked as a teacher for learning disabled students before transitioning to school administration when he became an assistant principal. Most recently he served as the principal for Berea Elementary School, where he transformed a failing school into one that met Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) for the first time in seven years.

As he works to expand our research-based programs to more schools, this experience will be invaluable in forging district partnerships that support sustained reading achievement.”

According to Mr. George, “As a principal I strived to leverage every available resource to reverse failing programs or bring new initiatives to fruition. I look forward to working with school leadership teams to help children learn to read using the company’s state-of-the-art programs.”

Mr. George was born in McHenry, Illinois. He received both his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Teaching from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee, and his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Furman University in Greenville, SC.
