Remote access provides organizations with both IT management efficiency and significant cost savings. Our advanced solutions for enterprise-wide remote access are designed to meet stringent security standards in today’s most complex data environments.

A breach of data security is the worst nightmare for IT managers at organizations around the world – particularly those that accept credit and debit cards for transactions. To provide its customers with the confidence that they have the highest levels of data security available, Netop, provider of software solutions for desktop management, unified communications, advanced training and instruction, today launched new versions of its remote administration tools, Netop Remote Control 10.5 and Netop OnDemand 2.5. Netop Remote Control is the secure remote management and control software used by more than half of Fortune 100 companies. Netop OnDemand, when used with Remote Control, provides immediate, web-based help-desk service for any support request, regardless of location, networks or firewalls.

A 2011 study on data breaches, conducted by the Verizon RISK Team with cooperation from the U.S. Secret Service and the Dutch High Tech Crime Unit, revealed that hacking is a problem for many remote control solutions. According to the report, 71 percent of security breaches occur because of remote access services, and 64 percent of the attack pathways are found via local remote screen-sharing. Now with Netop Remote Control 10.5 and Netop OnDemand 2.5, IT administrators can take advantage of the efficiency and cost savings of secure remote control software, using the most secure, trusted, scalable solutions on the market today.

“Remote access provides organizations with both IT management efficiency and significant cost savings,” said Netop CEO Kurt Bager. “Our advanced solutions for enterprise-wide remote access are designed to meet stringent security standards in today’s most complex data environments.”

Over the past decade, the news has been full of reports of security breaches at businesses, leaving thousands of customers’ credit card information at risk and creating public relations nightmares for the companies. Often the hackers have used remote access solutions to gain unauthorized access to IT systems. To help prevent these incidents, merchants accepting payment cards are required to be compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The standard applies to all organizations that store, process or transmit cardholder data – with guidance for software developers and manufacturers of applications and devices used in those transactions.

Netop Remote Control is fully compliant with PCI DSS. In fact, that compliance is the reason why the enterprise remote access solution is preferred by Fortune 500 and FT Europe 500 companies. In addition to PCI DSS, Netop Remote Control is compliant with a number of other national and international data security standards including FIPS, SB-1386, HIPAA and ISO 27000.

With this new version, Netop Remote Control 10.5 extends the enterprise remote support capabilities even further by reaching Mac OS X Lion and Ubuntu Linux systems. When using the Netop Remote Control with Netop Security Server with Active Directory authentication, Guests can connect to a Host running on Linux or Mac. The Security Server offers the ability to manage remote control access from a central location. This enhancement extends the centralized security management options by allowing the existing Windows account to be used by Guests when authenticating against a Linux or Mac Host via the Security Server.

When using Netop Remote Control applications on multi-homed machines, it is sometimes necessary to direct the Netop communication through a specific interface. In earlier versions, this was only achievable by specifying a fixed IP address for the required network interface. To meet the needs of today’s dynamic environments where IP addresses are often changing, such as in VPN and virtual network environments, Netop Remote Control 10.5 offers the option to bind Netop to a specific interface according to the network interfaces found by the operating system.

In addition, with Netop Remote Control 10.5 and Netop OnDemand 2.5, IT managers can now have multiple support sessions when using a WebConnect service and are no longer restricted to a single session.
