Bruce Bierwirth, EVP of Sales for American Reading Company, announced today that Susan Byers has been named Account Manager for Eastern Georgia and Southeastern South Carolina. In this position, Ms. Byers will work to expand the company’s nationally recognized award-winning programs to school districts across the two states. Today, more than a million students in 2,100 schools across 420 districts in 41 states participate in the company’s programs. The newly adopted Common Core State Standards serve as the structural model for all American Reading Company instructional resources and professional development solutions, which include ACTION 100 and 100 BOOK CHALLENGE.
Ms. Byers has 19 years’ experience in education, both as a teacher and as a sales representative. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and has taught in Texas, Ohio, and most recently for Savannah-Chatham Public Schools in Savannah, Georgia. She also worked in educational sales for both Pearson Scott Foresman and William H. Sadlier, Inc.
“Susan will be a tremendous asset to our sales team,” said Bierwirth. “She has a proven track record in working collaboratively with school administrators and also benefits from hands-on experience in the classroom as a teacher. Ms. Byers was born in El Paso, Texas and received her Bachelor of Science from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
