American Reading Company Names Dr. Shelley Wright as Account Manager for Eastern Texas and Oklahoma

Bruce Bierwirth, EVP of Sales for American Reading Company, announced today that Shelley Wright has been named Account Manager for Eastern Texas and Oklahoma. In this position, Dr. Wright will work to expand the company’s nationally recognized award-winning programs to school districts across these states. Today, more than a million students in 2,100 schools across 420 districts in 41 states participate in the company’s programs. State standards serve as the structural model for all American Reading Company instructional resources and professional development solutions, which include ACTION 100 and 100 BOOK CHALLENGE.

With more than 20 years of experience in the education industry, Dr. Wright began her career as a teacher and for 12 years taught across Grades K-12 in public, private, and Department of Defense schools abroad. She then transitioned to the private sector, where she worked in management positions for SRA McGraw-Hill Publishing, Pearson Longman Publishing, and most recently, as the Field Territory Manager for South Texas for Rosetta Stone, Ltd. In addition, Dr. Wright taught at the university level for undergraduate and graduate courses at Wayland Baptist University and Southern Methodist University.

According to Dr. Wright, “I’ve been a lifetime advocate for education and am thrilled to be joining American Reading Company, which is on the forefront of rigorous programs that increase teacher capacity to advance reading achievement for all students.”

Dr. Wright was born in Lubbock, Texas. She attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where she received her Doctorate in Education for Curriculum and Instruction, a Master of Arts in Bilingual Education, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a concentration in Elementary Education. She also completed a Graduate Doctoral Fellowship with the Office of Bilingual Education in Washington, D.C., and served on the Board of the Texas Association of Bilingual Education (TABE).
