American Reading Company Names Lisa Gantt as Account Manager for Central and Southern Virginia

Bruce Bierwirth, EVP of Sales for American Reading Company, announced today that Lisa Gantt has been named Account Manager for Central and Southern Virginia. In this position, Ms. Gantt will work to expand the company’s nationally recognized award-winning programs to school districts across the state. Today, more than a million students in 2,100 schools across 420 districts in 41 states participate in the company’s programs. The newly adopted Common Core State Standards serve as the structural model for all American Reading Company instructional resources and professional development solutions, which include ACTION 100 and 100 BOOK CHALLENGE.
Ms. Gantt began her career in education as an elementary school teacher in Virginia, where she taught for 16 years in Prince Edward County, Henrico County, and King George County schools. She then joined PLATO Learning, where she served as an Educational Consultant and Account Manager. Most recently, Ms. Gantt was an account representative for Ignite! Learning in Virginia.
“As a former school teacher, Lisa appreciates the many demands placed on teachers in the classroom,” said Bierwirth. “In working with district partners throughout Virginia, she will bring this experience in designing programs to help children achieve sustained reading achievement while offering the right supports and training for teachers.”

According to Ms. Gantt, “I have spent more than 15 years in education and am excited by this opportunity to bring American Reading Company programs to more schools and districts in Virginia. Ms. Gantt was born in Fall River, Massachusetts. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Rhode Island College. She has also taken extensive graduate-level coursework in reading at Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia.
