New Chick Lit Book Explores Cheating and Death: An Irreverant Take on Romance

I love to laugh, and I know that my readers will too. I try to find the fun in any circumstance life throws my way, which is exactly why I decided to write a humorous take on such a depressing topic.

Chick lit fiction author Bethany Ramos just released her debut novel, 5 Stages of Grief. The novel tells the story of Danielle Starkey, who finds herself a widow at 29 but soon discovers an even more shocking surprise - her husband had booked a vacation with another woman prior to his death.

Ramos has used her experience as a licensed aesthetician and beauty writer to support the storyline with insider information about the beauty industry. Ramos has also drawn from her many mishaps in the dating world as a young single woman living in Denver.

According to Ramos, 5 Stages of Grief is a "grieving adventure with a twist". The story is fresh, funny, and honest as it explores the world of online dating, coming to terms with a cheating dead husband, and tracking down his mistress.

"I love to laugh, and I know that my readers will too. I try to find the fun in any circumstance life throws my way, which is exactly why I decided to write a humorous take on such a depressing topic.” Ramos says.

Ramos believes that the witty, sarcastic tone of 5 Stages of Grief will be enjoyed by women of all ages, especially those who need support and a good laugh when going through a tough time.
5 Stages of Grief is available on the Kindle and in print through Amazon, as a Nook Book and in print through Barnes & Noble, and in print, PDF, Kindle, and Nook through Black Opal Books, the official publisher's website.

One reviewer described the book as, “Surprisingly good Chick Lit. I say surprisingly because I had no idea from the title I’d be so impressed with the story. Bethany Ramos has littered her tale with the kind of feisty and sassy humor that had me laughing aloud and thinking of same situations in my own life. Yep, she hooked me with that humor, held me right up until the last page.”

Bethany Ramos lives in San Antonio, Texas, and works as a full-time freelance writer through Elance.com. She also co-owns an e-commerce coffee website, The Coffee Bump, with her husband. Bethany Ramos reviews chick lit books on her blog ChickLit- Books.com.

5 Stages of Grief can be purchased through participating retailers or through Ramos’s chick lit blog.
