Tarps Plus teams up with the feature film "The Guitar Player" to supply tarps to the homeless in Washington D.C.

Tarps Plus and the producers of the feature film The Guitar Player will distribute 1000 tarps to Washington DC’s homeless population at the Community for Creative Non-Violence shelter at 1pm. on September 28, 2011.

Michael Stein, the director of the indie film The Guitar Player will be on hand at the Washington D.C. CCNV shelter during lunch time to personally hand out tarps to every homeless man, woman and child. Each “Blue 5ft X 7ft Tarp” will be individually packaged so that they can be personally handed to each individual, one at a time. The tarps are designed to keep someone that is homeless-warm and dry; and the tarps are recyclable just like a plastic bottle.

Stein stated, “I selected the Community for Creative Non-Violence shelter in Washington D.C.for our tarps giveaway because the CCNV shares our same dedication and has served over 5,000,000 meals to the homeless in the Washington D.C. area since 1984”.

The tarp giveaway is part of a nationwide program set up by actor/writer/director Michael Stein, to help bring awareness about the homeless and his film, The Guitar Player. Fifty percent of the film's profits will be donated back to America’s homeless population through various organizations across the nation. The Guitar Player is a publically funded film. People can pledge on merchandise and incentives offered by the film company, which help fund the production.
