REDCOM’s HDX was chosen to replace a legacy Nortel DMS 10

REDCOM Laboratories Inc. announced today that Alaska Power & Telephone Company (AP&T) commissioned a powerful REDCOM HDX carrier-class platform at its Metlakatla exchange, replacing a legacy Nortel DMS 10.

AP&T currently provides service to communities located in the interior of Alaska, deep in the Wrangell Mountains, and throughout the islands of southeast Alaska. With REDCOM’s HDX next-generation softswitch, AP&T is able to rapidly migrate to IP, introducing new services to its customers with less hardware build-out and lowering operational costs.

REDCOM’s HDX provided AP&T with a drop-in solution to replace the legacy DMS 10, reducing risk while enabling a planned migration to NGN services. “The REDCOM HDX provides AP&T an advanced softswitch platform allowing AP&T to provide next generation services to the Metlakatla community. With the HDX, they can now transition the access network to enjoy superior NGN services,” said Carlos Sánchez, Vice President of Sales Americas, REDCOM.

“Powered by REDCOM HDX softswitch, we are now able to better serve our voice subscribers in Metlakatla,” said Tom Ervin, V.P. Senior GM Telecom Operations and Engineering, AP&T. “Our relationship with REDCOM is a longstanding one that began with our deployment of REDCOM’s platform and now continues with our transition to REDCOM’s next-generation softswitch.”
