Detroit, MI (PRWEB) September 20, 2011
The Detroit Creative Corridor Center (DC3) announced that Quicken Loans Inc. is the “Premier Sponsor” of the inaugural Detroit Design Festival (DDF), scheduled for September 21 through September 28.“It’s great to have companies in our own backyard who understand the important role creative people play in the future of Detroit’s rebirth,” said Matt Clayson, director, Detroit Creative Corridor Center. “We are truly grateful for the support that Quicken Loans has shown for the Detroit Design Festival with their sponsorship.”
The Quicken Loans’ sponsorship of DDF has allowed the Detroit Creative Corridor Center to provide mini-grants to local designers and creative professionals allowing them to present their ‘design happenings’ during the eight-day festival that will feature fashion shows, exhibitions, lectures, installations, studio tours, performances, and more.
A sister company of Quicken Loans, Fathead, LLC, is also supporting the Detroit Design Festival by producing a decorative decal—created by DC3 Ventures in residence participant, Todd Ridley of Left Bank Creative—that is going to be placed on the sidewalk in front of the venues hosting the 77 ‘design happenings’ and several other strategic places across the city.
”We are excited to be part of such an important event showcasing the creative talents of so many Detroiters,” said Jay Farner, President and Chief Marketing Officer for Quicken Loans. “As we continue forward with our Detroit 2.0 vision, it is important that we embrace the arts, which have been at the forefront of the city’s resurgence.”
DDF is the first-known crowd-sourced design festival in Detroit, meaning all of the ‘design happenings’ that are scheduled to take place during the eight-day festival were developed by, and will be executed by, designers and creative people from across the metro Detroit area.
