San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 21, 2011
The nation’s largest solar group purchasing provider, One Block Off the Grid (http://www.1bog.org), today announced record sales growth, as well as significant growth in both hiring and number of registered users. Since April, the company’s sales have grown an average of 70 percent month-over-month and its employee count has doubled from 21 to 42.
In addition, the company’s number of registered users has grown 46 percent during that period to include more than 101,000 U.S. homeowners.
“A new breed of more economically motivated homeowner is interested in solar now, but they don’t want to have to worry about finding a good contractor or negotiating a fair price on a solar system,” said Dave Llorens, founder and CEO of One Block Off the Grid, “Our approach has really resonated with these homeowners. They love our group discounts and flexible leasing options. They also love that we manage the entire project for them from beginning to end. We needed to staff up to support the growing demand.”
The increased demand has led to 12 new hires in the last month, primarily within the areas of sales and system design. This employee growth comes on the heels of a mid-August executive team expansion that included the hiring of Paul Stephan as vice president of sales and the promotion of Shannon Coulter to vice president of marketing.
“The question is no longer whether or not a homeowner will go solar, but when,” said Llorens. “Right now the clean tech industry is seeing a level of growth that recalls the early days of the Internet. We’re excited to be right at the heart of this important sector and are in a great position to grow along with it.”
In July, One Block Off the Grid launched its first-ever national campaign, offering 2,081 new group deals on solar energy in 34 states.
