NHL Hockey Player Uses Novel Neuro-Technology to Overcome Head Injury; New Video Shows How Brainwave Optimization Measures, Corrects Brainwave Disturbance

Phoenix Coyotes’ Kurt Sauer hasn’t played hockey since he was injured in 2009. After nearly two years of searching for solutions for headaches, pain, vision and sleep problems, Kurt discovered Brainwave Optimization – an advanced neuro-technology that is helping athletes and others get relief from concussions, trauma and addictions.

How to help athletes with head trauma has recently become of vital interest in the sports world as players suffer the debilitating effects of head and brain injuries. News of concussions, addictions, career-ending and life-limiting injuries abound. The recent troubling suicides of several hockey and football players who were plagued by injuries escalates the question of “what’s happening in the brain and how can we help?”

Sauer, who hasn’t been able to play since he suffered a neck injury during a preseason game against the Anaheim Ducks in September 2009, discovered Brainwave Optimization when someone from Brain State Technologies read his story in the Arizona Republic and sent a note to say, “I think we can help.”

“I’ve always believed that if the brain was willing, the body would follow,” said Sauer, “but up until I found Brainwave Optimization, I just wasn’t progressing.” Sauer investigated Brainwave Optimization “and it just made sense to me that getting better didn’t mean cutting something out or taking pills.”

Sauer has endured head-splitting headaches, blurred vision, balance problems, nausea and insomnia for several years and had seen doctors specializing in neck, spine and brain, and “no one had a clear diagnosis,” he said.

“I had a peculiar set of symptoms and they didn’t fit into any one category,” said Sauer.
“When I saw Kurt’s data, I could see the trauma pattern in his brain,” said Lee Gerdes, the developer of Brainwave Optimization and the founder and CEO of Brain State Technologies. “You can see the direction of the trauma, where it happened and how it affected his brain. It’s hard science. It’s measurement.” http://brainstatetech.com/how-we-help/process#

With a picture of the brainwave patterns, Gerdes and his team went to work with Sauer (and his wife who was also struggling with the effects of Sauer’s trauma). Since he began Brainwave Optimization last spring, he has had about 30 90-minute sessions at the Scottsdale, Ariz. headquarters of Brain State Technologies.

Due to the severity of his injuries, work will continue, but Sauer already has experienced diminished headaches, more restful sleep, sharper vision – and most important to Sauer, “the ability to play with my boys again.”

“I recently lost a few of my friends to the tragedies in hockey, so I am more committed than ever to sharing information about something that can help,” Sauer’s brother, Michael, plays for the New York Rangers, and his brother, Craig, played for the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings, until his career was cut short by injury.
