As part of Ecobuild’s conference within a conference format, the National Specifiers Conference will run concurrent with Ecobuild®America December 5-9, 2011. Ecobuild®America is sponsored and produced by AEC Science & Technology ®.
“Architectural and engineering specification professionals play a vital role on every project team,” says George Borkovich, Principal & Conference Director. “They are in on a project early and make decisions that integrate the myriad systems into a workable whole. They are a critical part of a project team, and Ecobuild®America has put together a premier event to assist these professionals in meeting their unique challenges.”
The conference provides a dynamic environment to discuss the impact specification changes have on architectural and engineering specification professionals, and draws together industry experts to talk about how to prepare your practice for future changes.
The emphasis on “what’s next” makes this is the most forward-looking conference on specification writing for the construction industry. National Specifiers Conference offers a concentrated group of sessions on specifications production that include specific case studies related to spec development, tools and technologies, practices, standards and formats, codes and green building. The conference also features applications in building types including Health Care Facilities; Schools; Retail/Commercial; Residential; Government/Municipal, and more.
A sampling of the sessions follows:
Introduction to NBIMS-US – communicates the potential of digital, object-based, interoperable building information modeling processes and tools and modern
communications methods. This session will explain the benefits of using these methods for all levels of practitioners.
Life Cycle information exchange (LCie) – this exchange (LCie) will demonstrate how information flowing throughout a project can be captured and consolidated to ensure that the owner/occupier continues to have a clear and complete description of the facility, and how this information provides value.
Specifiers’ Properties information exchange (SPie) - the Specifiers' Properties information exchange (SPie) project is working to define the minimum sets of properties for building model objects. The project extends and cross references the OmniClass product and properties tables.
Commissioning Existing HVAC Systems for LEED and Energy Savings – a 90-minute seminar on new and existing building commissioning (Cx) is based on the commissioning (Cx) training programs.
Knowledge Management in BIM - This session shows how to leverage the Specifier within a project by enhancing their role to more than just writing specifications, and handing them the responsibility of managing all of the information.
Construction Operations Building information exchange (COBie) - showcases the impact a common data standard for the handover of facility information is having in practice. It will include live demonstrations and case studies by vendors of design tools and construction and asset management applications.
These sessions will:
- Provide live demonstrations and case studies by vendors of design tools and construction and asset management applications.
- Show how information flowing throughout a project can be captured and consolidated to ensure that the owner/occupier continues to have a clear and complete description of the facility.
- Help you stay up to date with the most advanced automation and production tools for specs.
- Let you discover new resources that help save time and improve quality.
- Teach you about latest in green specs and sustainable product selection.
- Enable you to exchange ideas with the most experienced specification writers in the country.
