Sando is widely recognized as a top communications executive with expertise in media relations, product branding and public policy. In his new position, he will formulate and implement a cohesive messaging strategy, both internally and externally, in support of the Company’s mission to empower people to live A More Meaningful Life.

For the past four years, Sando has been CEO of his Los Angeles–based communications consultancy. Previously, he was SVP, Communications, for CBS Enterprises, creating and executing publicity strategy and managing all day-to-day and long-range public and media relations activities for King World Productions, CBS Broadcast International and CBS Consumer Products, whose properties included The Oprah Winfrey Show, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, Dr. Phil, Inside Edition, Everybody Loves Raymond and the CSI: franchise.
Prior to CBS Enterprises, Sando was SVP, Corporate Communications, at Winstar Communications, where he developed and introduced new branding for this global, broadband services provider. He also served as SVP, Corporate Communications, for King World Productions, prior to its purchase by CBS, directing all public and media relations activities for the Company and its properties. Previously, he was VP, Corporate Affairs, for Comsat Corporation, where he directed corporate communications, investor relations and government affairs for this provider of global satellite services.
Sando is credited with founding and building the public relations department of Turner Broadcasting System, where he rose from being the company’s first Public Relations Director to becoming VP, Marketing and Communications. During his tenure, he formulated and executed communications strategies for the global expansion of CNN and the launches of Headline News, TNT and the Goodwill Games. He also directed publicity for all Turner networks; served as spokesperson for the company and its high-profile founder, Ted Turner; opened offices in Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Washington, London, Hong Kong and Moscow; and created the CNN Studio Tours and The Turner Store.
He began his career as a radio and television news reporter and anchor, and also served as a Congressional Press Secretary.
Sando serves on the Board of Directors of the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic violence. He has been presented with the President’s Award by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association. He earned a BA in political science from the University of Pennsylvania, is a Washington, DC, native and has two children.
