Panel to explore Cloud models, regulatory impact on financial institutions

Financial services firms of all kinds are among the types of enterprises that could, and should, make the most use of multiple forms of Cloud-based IT and business services. But, according to Saugatuck Technology, continuing confusion over Cloud, including its core nature as well as the types of services available, their reliability, and the implications of their use, keeps many institutions from embracing and benefiting from Cloud as they should.

At the Cloud Computing for Financial Services and Insurance Industry Summit Oct. 25 in New York City, Saugatuck Technology SVP and Head of Research Bruce Guptill will guide a panel of industry leaders through definitions and permutations of Cloud, so that event participants will be able to understand and begin planning for and managing Cloud acquisition and use, both for IT as a service, and for business services delivered from Cloud providers.

According to the event organizer World Research Group, the panel session will enable attendees to:

  •     Identify the different types and definitions of the cloud, and determine which may be right for each organization;
  •     Analyze and identify Public Private Clouds and their uses; and
  •     Determine how regulatory and compliance policies have impacted financial institutions’ use of Cloud in different forms.

“This session is a terrific way to kick off a very useful event, and to lay a foundation for participants to understand the basics of Cloud IT and business,” added Saugatuck’s Guptill. “I’m looking forward to sharing our research and insights on Cloud IT and Cloud Business with the group, and even more important, to helping participants build confidence and comfort with Cloud-based providers and services, and to find ways to act on that, so they can build and profit from new and better ways of doing business using Cloud.”
