Report It joins the Time Warner and Facebook Stop Bullying Initiative by linking the Speak Up Pledge on the Report-it homepage of its EDU website to help facilitate reporting and detection of bullying.

We feel that this is an important pledge and an extremely important message,” said Anthony Lavalle, Director. “This is the first and only external link that we have presented on our web site in twelve years.

Report it applauds Facebook and Time Warner on their joint anti-bullying initiative that aims to rally bystanders. Stop Bullying: Speak Up Social Pledge App is an interactive tool that enables students, educators, parents and teachers to ‘commit to end bullying’ by signing an online pledge and recruiting others to join them.

Students of schools that subscribe to the Report it tipline service will have access to the pledge right on the Report it home page.

“We feel that this is an important pledge and an extremely important message,” said Anthony Lavalle, Report it Director. “This is the first and only external link that we have presented on our web site in twelve years.”

Like Time Warner and Facebook, the Report it objective is to encourage students to communicate when they are a victim or witness of bullying. Report it provides a bullying detection tool where students have a place to communicate and escalate concerns to school administrators without fear of reprisal.

From its inception the objective of Report it is to provide a system that encourages communication, and not necessarily anonymous communication. We first encourage students to speak with their parents, a favorite teacher or a responsible adult. If they are uncomfortable communicating in person, we encourage them to Report it anonymously. When using Report it they are assured that their identity will remain confidential and their concern will be escalated to their schools administrators.
