The New World Craft and the Service Summit are two important fairs to promote employment generation and growth opportunities of 7 export sectors; they are about to receive more than 140 international buyers, who have showed the highest interest in Guatemalan handicrafts, technical knowledge and capacities for the IT sector and laboratories, and as well in specialized places in sustainable tourism and medical of Guatemala.
The first of these events is the Central American Fair of Handicrafts, New World Craft, organized by the entrepreneurs of the Handicrafts’ Commission of AGEXPORT, which will take place on September 21 and 22. This event will include 105 stands in which a million Guatemalan artisans of the different regions of the country will be represented and have prepared more than a score of new craft collections. This edition’s goal is to attain, in two days, US$ 700,000.00 in businesses.
“The New World Crafts in its 4th Edition will offer the buyers of USA, Holland, the Netherlands, Germany, England, Spain, Austria, Italy, Mexico, Colombia and Chile among others, the best selection of gifts, personal accessories and home decorations articles handmade in Guatemala and Central America. This event will show products with modern and contemporary designs, inspired in the artisans’ traditions and the cultural wealth of our countries as confirmed by the Handicrafts’ Commission Coordinator of AGEXPORT, Aída Fernández.
The second Fair named Service Summit of AGEXPORT will be held the 29 and 30 of September. This activity will include exporters of the Software, Contact Center, Digital Content Development, Laboratories, Sustainable Tourism, and Medical and Well-being Tourism Sectors with more than 40 buyers coming from Italy, USA, Colombia, Spain, United Kingdom and others for closing businesses in the amount of US$ 25 million.
“The Service Summit intends to show Guatemala to international level as a country offering high quality export services, which is currently unknown internally. Therefore, a forum on public policies will be held and the second round presidential candidates, their working teams and elected congress representatives will be invited to meet the experiences and successful cases of the programs and public policies in Latin American countries. They also will receive publicly Agexport’s public policies proposal for the Sector to have a national support, hence contributing to employment generation with multiple performance opportunities, as expressed by the Export Services Sector Manager, Claudia de Del Águila.
Both the New World Craft and the Service Summit, and the business rounds as well, have been interested in bringing experts in all those topics that may contribute to the formation and growth of the entrepreneurs, students and the public in general. In this sense, the Service Summit will account with Kirk Laughlin, awarded editor, expert on the subject of information technology and BPO and also founder of the popular brand media in line, America Nearshore; Kurt Kutay, founding president and CEO of Wildland Adventures and the nonprofit organization of Travelers Conservation Trust, and Carlos Arceo with more than 25 years of experience in marketing, commercialization and promotion of touristic products. Likewise, the New World Craft will account with the presence of Karen Gibas and Colvin English to show the Fashion Tendencies and the Market in Handicrafts and Textiles.
