Hide-Away Storage based in Bradenton and with large operations in Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Ft. Myers and Naples, has been recognized because of its size in two major publications, one of which circulates on Florida’s Gulf Coast and the other is a national trade publication.
The Gulf Coast Business Review recognized Hide-Away Storage in its recent list of “The Gulf Coast’s Largest 500 Companies.” Hide-Away Storage ranked 323 among the 500 largest based on revenue of nearly $9 million annually. The ranking covers companies along the Southwest Coast of Florida with headquarters from Clearwater in the north to Naples in the south.
Separately, the Mini-Storage Messenger, one of the primary national trade publications for the self-storage industry, identified Hide-Away Storage as the 76th largest independent self-storage operator in the country. It listed Hide-Away Storage in its September issue of the 100 largest operators in the country.
The ranking is based on the number of square feet a company has under its management, and Hide-Away Storage manages about 1 million square feet of buildings. It was ranked 87th in the nation last year, but because some large companies were purchased or broken up and sold, Hide-Away’s ranking increased.
Hide-Away Storage has 10 traditional self-storage locations, with four in the Bradenton-Ellenton area, three in Sarasota, and one each in St. Petersburg, Ft. Myers and Naples. It also operates two large mobile storage, or portable storage, warehouses. One is in Sarasota and the other in Ft. Myers.
The company began in Bradenton in 1977 and been expanding ever since. Some of the Hide-Away owners and other outside investors also began the Xpress Storage facility on Fruitville Road in Sarasota last year. The Xpress Storage facility is intended to be the ultimate in convenience with customers able to rent at its kiosk 24 hours a day. There is no regular on-site full-time manager.
