Nashville's Better Angels Music recently received critical high praise as two of the label's rising stars, Jason White (Jason also penned the song "Red Ragtop" which was a hit for both Tim McGraw and Jason) and David Adam Byrnes made noted music journalist Craig Shelburne's Best of Summer Top 100 List at CMT News.
Craig Shelburne, who penned the top 100 CMT News Summer 2011list said, "Over the course of the summer, more than 100 new albums crossed my desk. And, yes, I listened to each one. However, I didn't have time to write about all of them when they came out. So, before the season slips away entirely, I'd like to share some songs that made my summer soundtrack, including familiar country stars, longtime Americana favorites and newcomers who are worth the attention."
Regarding his artists' inclusion on the list, Rob Rappaport, CEO/Chief Creative Officer at Better Angels Music noted, “Thanks to Craig Shelburne and CMT for recognizing two of our talented singer/songwriters – Jason White, who not only wrote the great country song, “Red Ragtop” (a hit for both Tim McGraw and Jason) - but who continues to evolve into a world class singer/songwriter with a unique style that appeals to fans of the ‘American Songbook’ and several other genres; and David Adam Byrnes, our young Arkansas singer/songwriter who blends his love of traditional country with modern overtones and unique vocal talent.”
Better Angels Music's Shellien Butts added, "David and Jason are both very talented singer-songwriters and we couldn't be more thrilled that they were included on CMT's Top 100 Best of Summer."
Rounding out the list of singer-songwriters, were Claudia Nygaard's "Big Country," David Olney's film noir-inspired "Frank Is Gone," Stephen Simmons' "Spark," Eurhythmics star Dave Stewart's "Country Wine," Chadwick Stokes' "Black Bottle" and Jason White's "The Longing" (Lp, The Longing).
Regarding his inclusion in the impressive list of artists and titles, Jason White said, "Thanks for the mention to journalist Craig Shelburne. There are a lot of great songs on your list, Craig... and I'm happy you put mine in such good company."
"Interested in discovering singer-songwriters, these tracks might introduce you to a new favorite: Zee Avi's "Siboh Kitak Nangis," Ray Bonneville, "Funny 'Bout Love," Ange Boxall's "The Salt Plains," Paul Brady's "Living the Mystery" and David Adam Byrnes' "She Only Wanted Flowers" from his album Premium Country.
Regarding his accolades, David Adam Byrnes concluded, "It's an honor to be listed. Everyone involved in making the record put a lot of hard work into making it so it's amazing to see all the hard work paying off."
