ContactLab S.r.L., a leading Italian provider of digital direct marketing services, and ScientiaMobile, Inc., a US company offering the popular open-source WURFL framework commercially, have today announced an agreement between the two organizations. According to the agreement, ContactLab will become a commercial adopter of ScientiaMobile's device detection products and services, and rely on the WURFL APIs and Device Description Repository to provide mobile-specific reporting and analytics solutions to its customers. As part of the deal, ContactLab will also be able to offer mobile-optimised websites sites and landing pages to support customer marketing campaigns.

As usual, ContactLab intends to be the forerunner of all the new trends in the digital direct marketing industry and mobile is not different. To achieve our goal, we adopted WURFL some time ago, and reaffirmed the choice with ScientiaMobile when their commercial offering became available. Not only is WURFL the de-facto standard in device recognition, but its open approach makes it far easier to integrate than traditional commercially available DDRs” - said Davide Migliavacca, ContactLab’s CTO.

ContactLab, one of the main providers of email marketing services, has been the first vendor in its field to adopt commercially licensed and supported WURFL by reinstating its cooperation with ScientiaMobile.

WURFL, the Wireless Universal Resource FiLe, is a popular open-source framework to solve the so-called “Device Fragmentation” problem for mobile web developers and other stakeholders in the mobile ecosystem. WURFL has been and still is the de-facto standard Device Description Repository (DDR) adopted by mobile developers.
