WHAT: A playful new 28-page, hard-cover book makes a great holiday gift for busy mothers to share with her children. Written by first-time author and veteran working mother Shelley Hallier, Where Does Mommy Go? sends an important message of love and reassurance to young children who may wonder where Mommy goes when she leaves the house each day.
WHO: As a business owner and dedicated mother of three who spent 12 years in the corporate world, Hallier wrote her book right after delivering twins, for fellow working moms to share with their children under the age of nine.
WHY: Hallier created the book as an interactive tool that is meant to help mothers communicate their love for their children. The story reveals a working mother’s life outside the home, from the perspective of a child who has a range of ideas about where Mommy might be – some more realistic than others.
HOW: Where Does Mommy Go? is written in verse to stimulate language learning and create a lighthearted tone. Brightly-colored illustrations engage children in the story, helping address the concerns and curiosity about Mommy’s life outside the home.
WHERE: The book is available for $14.99 with FREE shipping from Oct. 15-Dec.31, 2011, and may be purchased at Amazon.com or online at http://www.wheremommygoes.com

“There’s more to this book than its fun verse and darling illustrations. It proclaims the honor of working, regardless of the profession, and it underscores the fact that grown-up girls can have adventures outside the home while being loving mothers within it. Beautiful.” – Jeannette Lee, retired Vice President of Corporate Design at Hallmark, where she was the company’s first female corporate officer in 1967. At a time when most pregnant women stopped working, Lee continued her job and eventually became the first female president of the Kansas City Art Institute’s Board of Governors.
“This children’s book speaks to both mother and child. It’ll leave a lump in the working mom’s throat (it did mine) and reminds children how much they’re cherished.” – Amy Hawley, Weekend News Anchor, NBC Action News
“’Where Does Mommy Go?’ is a creative and positive spin on the anxiety that little ones experience when separating from Mom and Dad. This imaginative peek into the mind of a preschooler really delivers the message that moms are always thinking about their children – no matter what adventures they may be having. Colorful illustrations and a sense of fun make for wonderful reading for your toddler or preschooler!” – Sarah Garibaldi, Montessori Guide, Parkville Children’s Cottage Montessori School
“I love this book! It’s the perfect way to help my little girl understand where ‘mommy’ goes every day and to let her know that no matter what, I’m always thinking about her. Beautifully written and illustrated…our new favorite!” – Jenny Matthews, on-air personality – “The Jenny Matthews Show,” KMXV, Mix 93.3
