When the Third Annual Jungle Jam (http://www.junglejam4bmd.org) fundraising gala in Cleveland, Ohio roars into House of Blues this Saturday, October 1, 2011, the hunt will be on for cures in Bone Marrow Disease and Blood Cancers. As guests dance to three wildly popular local bands, play exciting casino games and bid on elegant items, they will be part of the efforts to raise awareness and funds for ongoing research at Taussig Cancer Center at the Cleveland Clinic.

Jungle Jam began as a fundraiser for the Make It Happen 4 BMD (bone marrow disease) Foundation, an organization seeking to expand funding and research for blood and bone marrow diseases. Jeffrey and Sherri Kitzberger founded Make it Happen 4 BMD after their daughter, Annalyse, was diagnosed with two life-threatening bone marrow diseases: Aplastic Anemia (AA) and Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH), at the age of five. Today, Annalyse is a vibrant and athletic 11-year-old in remission, but the quest for a cure for AA, PNH and related diseases continues as that could change at any time. The goal, the Kitzbergers say, is to fund research efforts at Taussig Cancer Center (http://my.clevelandclinic.org/cancer/treatment/department/hemonc.aspx) so that a cure can be found for these deadly diseases.

Last year, Jungle Jam raised $100,000, which went directly to support Dr. Jaroslaw Maciejewski MD, PhD, Chairman, Department of Transitional Hematology and Oncology Research at Cleveland Clinic; one of the top researchers in the world in Bone Marrow Disease (http://www.aamds.org).

This year’s event promises outrageous fun with three bands: Hard Day’s Night, considered to be one of the greatest Beatles tribute bands around; Run Avril Run, a popular dance band; and Blues d’Ville, which will be playing Jungle Jam for the third year. Casino games will bring added excitement to the evening, while a silent auction will entice bidders with beautiful jewelry, fabulous vacation getaways and gastronomical experiences. Hearty appetizers and cocktails round out the evening’s offerings.

The Third Annual Jungle Jam takes place from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, October 1, 2011, at House of Blues, 308 Euclid Avenue in Cleveland. There is a VIP Party for Dr. Maciejewski from 6:30 – 7:30pm. Tickets start at $125 per person. For more information or to order tickets, visit http://www.MakeItHappen4BMD.org/JungleJam.
