CFO Alliance Institute Established to Satisfy C-Suite’s Growing Appetite for Finance Leadership

Executive Learning is Central Mission of Elite Organization Dedicated to Broadening the Ranks of Finance Leaders

The CFO Alliance, a peer-to-peer community of more than 2,000 senior finance professionals, has established The CFO Alliance Institute to help broaden the scope and increase the ranks of finance leadership as organizations look to apply finance principles and decision-making beyond the realm of the traditional finance function.

The broadening of the traditional CFO leadership role has occurred, as finance chiefs get more deeply involved in corporate strategy. According to a recent study completed by the CFO Alliance, more than 61% of CFOs in mid-market organizations expect their role to become increasingly more strategic. This growing alignment between finance and strategy is now impacting the traditional corporate leadership model, according to both the study and CFO discussions taking place across the country.

“When you look at the leadership challenges that organizations face today, it’s obvious that they cannot be met simply by reshuffling existing C-suite leaders,” says Nick Araco, CEO and cofounder of The CFO Alliance, the peer-to-peer community of finance leaders that organized and facilitated the recent CFO discussions. “The influence of finance leaders has grown, and emerging leadership models must reflect this.”

“Our discussions have revealed that the broadening scope of finance leadership now demands skills and experiences that the traditional finance career path doesn’t always yield. The executive curriculum of The CFO Alliance Institute has been developed to fill these leadership gaps and expand the arch of finance leadership in general,” says Araco.

An elite component of the CFO Alliance’s Global Center for CFO Leadership, the CFO Alliance Institute will take place October 25-26, 2011 at the state-of-the-art Babson Executive Conference Center just outside of Boston. The program, Strategy Formulation and Execution Excellence, will focus on effective strategic planning and execution, a critical component of a company’s long-term success.

Attendees of the two-day, hands-on workshop will work together with faculty, moving from theory to execution, ultimately developing a foundation to drive corporate strategy and lead execution within their own organizations. Presented by The CFO Alliance and produced by Babson Executive Education, one of the world’s top executive education providers, participants will leave with a custom plan for providing strategic leadership for both strategy creation and execution, the tools to leverage an organization’s resources for strategic purposes, and a set of strong relationships with other trusted and knowledgeable CFOs.
