MEDSEEK to Speak at NCHICA 17th Annual Conference & Exhibition

While the technology is impressive, ultimately it’s the patients and physicians who will benefit from the hospitals’ ability to obtain the latest patient health data.
-- Brad Hawkins, MEDSEEK VP of Clinical Experience

MEDSEEK, the industry’s only provider of the optimal 360-degree online healthcare experience, today announced that it would be participating in the 17th Annual North Carolina Healthcare Information & Communications Alliance Conference and Exhibition, September 27, in Asheville, North Carolina. Brad Hawkins, MEDSEEK Vice President of Clinical Experience, will participate in Tuesday’s session, “NCHICA & Western North Carolina Health Network: Connecting to 30,000 Veterans in Western NC.”

By linking WNC Health Network's health information exchange to the Veterans Administration’s Health Information Systems Technology Architecture (VistA) the project allows the network’s member hospitals to share health information, ensuring that physicians can access the most recent, accurate medical records for participating veterans. Veterans benefit from the attending physicians having the most accurate patient records, increasing the quality of care and saving them money by eliminating duplication of unnecessary tests.

“MEDSEEK is honored to be a part of this groundbreaking collaboration,” said Brad Hawkins, MEDSEEK Vice President of Clinical Experience. “While the technology is impressive, ultimately it’s the patients and physicians who will benefit from the hospitals’ ability to obtain the latest patient health data. Accurate patient data enhances the quality of care and reduces redundant tests.”

The session takes place at 1pm on Tuesday and, in addition to Mr. Hawkins, the panel includes Jamie Bennett (Department of Veterans Affairs), Richard Eshbach (representing WNC Health Network), Greg Hill (Mirth Corporation), and Wendy Laposata and Andrew Weniger (representing NCHICA). Topics covered during the discussion include the impact on patients and clinicians who use the NHIN Exchange to provide local and nationwide access to patient information.
