There’s been quite a few exciting developments going on at Teenlike.com, Inc. lately. The home decor company announced the first winners of its ongoing design competition, with winners receiving a $500 cash prize, a free item showcasing their design, and 2.5% of their winning design’s sales. The cash prize is guaranteed, but in order for winners to receive the other prizes, the design has to meet a Satisfactory Demand. It is one of the main details highlighted in the company’s announcement of their pre-order process.
“A Satisfactory Demand is a process where we have to receive enough Pre-orders in order to turn that design into a product for the online shop,” explains Teenlike CEO Roland Ghetty. “The amount of Pre-orders needed for the demand varies, but we try to keep it at a very reasonable range. The pre-order would have to do very poorly in order to not get printed.” If the winning design does meet the demand, the designs, now turned into home decor products which include duvet covers and sheet sets, will be available in the online store. And winners will start receiving 2.5% of their winning designs sales. It’s very lucrative for the designer, especially if they have more than one winning design.
That is the last big step the designer must get through in order to reap the full benefits of winning the competition. It’s a pretty long process, but the end result is the designer leaving their mark on the teen room. “You can say it’s a bit of a vindication,” says Ghetty. “Along with the voting process, the winning design meeting the Satisfactory Demand will be a testament to how popular that design really is with people.”
