From day one we have sought to achieve something out of the ordinary at The Latymer, so to be recognised in this way by the AA and alongside such eminent restaurants is a real privilege.

Pennyhill Park Hotel’s Michelin Starred restaurant, The Latymer, has announced its most recent award win - the highly prestigious accolade of five AA Rosettes in the 2012 AA Restaurant Guide. Announced on 26th September, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant is one of only eight UK restaurants to achieve this sought-after accolade, which is the highest in its category.

The AA stipulates that to achieve five Rosettes is “the pinnacle, where cooking compares with the best in the world” and states that restaurants in this award category “have highly individual voices, exhibit breath-taking culinary skills, and set standards to which others aspire to, yet few achieve”.

Under Head Chef Michael Wignall, the award-winning restaurant in Surrey has secured its reputation as a premiere, five-star food destination, whilst being ideally located within the grounds of Pennyhill Park, a luxury hotel and spa resort located within 123 acres of beautiful countryside. Michael's natural flair in the kitchen, as well as his expertise and passion for food, has led to the restaurant fast becoming one of the finest places to dine in the country.

Michael joined The Latymer in November 2007 from The Devonshire Arms Hotel in North Yorkshire, and just over a year later, in January 2009, the restaurant was awarded its first Michelin Star and four AA Rosettes. Michael comments, “This is a fantastic win for us and really pays tribute to all the hard work that we put in. From day one we have sought to achieve something out of the ordinary at The Latymer, so to be recognised in this way by the AA and alongside such eminent restaurants is a real privilege.”

The Head Chef explains that his dishes are “complex, carefully crafted and very technical but not intimidating”, and illustrates this with the latest addition to the dining menu: cumin-scented yellow fin tuna, Bloody Mary sphere, avocado, poached oyster and baby squid with sugar snap jelly.
