The leading leisure airline has added routes to Barcelona, Murcia, Ibiza, Malaga and Lanzarote for summer 2012.

More Than 24 Million Visitors

Spain’s Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade reported a 7.5% increase on 2010 in the number of tourist arrivals for the first half of this year. The figure totalled more than 24.8million visitors to Spain’s sunshine shores and city break destinations.

It also includes arrivals to the Balaeric Islands of Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca and also the Canary Islands of Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.

Many of these destinations have seen prices for holidays drop as they encourage more holidaymakers to visit. This has given tourists a chance to return to a country that is blessed with resorts built for the purposes of holidays. The southern coast of Spain is a particular draw with areas like the Costa Del Sol and Costa Blanca often appealing to visitors.

Access to an Increasing Number of Fantastic Destinations has enjoyed a very good first year at Glasgow Airport, transporting over 250,000 passengers to sun, city and ski destinations across Europe. The demand for flights to Europe has encouraged bosses to add extra flights. Steve Heapy, Chief Commercial Officer of, commented:

“Our first year at Glasgow Airport has been tremendously successful. Adding nine new destinations demonstrates our commitment to growth in Glasgow and we aim to continue to add routes that reflect our customers’ holiday choices. Majorca, Turkey and Cyprus are proving extremely popular at the moment with bookings for next year already soaring.

“Our exciting plans for 2012 will mean even more Glasgow passengers will have direct access to an increasing number of fantastic destinations.”

To meet this demand and also appeal to holidaymakers looking to get away on a budget, are currently offering a number of winter sun offers and bookings ready for 2012; giving tourists a chance to enjoy plenty of choice when planning a holiday to Spain.
