Buddy Media Continues Global Expansion With Key Management Hires; New Offices in San Francisco and Singapore

Executives from Yahoo! And Six Apart Join Company To Fuel Continued Growth

Buddy Media, the social enterprise software solution of choice for eight of the world’s top ten global advertisers, today announced the addition of two new members to its management team as part of its continued global expansion. Ken Mandel joins the company as Managing Director, Asia and Carla Bourque joins as Senior Vice President, Western Region Sales.

Mandel will oversee Buddy Media’s new Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore, while Bourque will oversee the company’s new San Francisco office. In addition, Buddy Media promoted Myles Kleeger to Senior Vice President, Eastern Region sales. Kleeger has been instrumental in driving large brands’ adoption of Buddy Media’s social marketing suite since joining the company in August 2010.

This is the first major hiring announcement since Buddy Media’s $54 million Series D funding round in August 2011 and the opening of its European Headquarters in London in July 2011. Rapidly expanding to meet the demands of Fortune 1000 enterprises for cutting edge social software to manage social media publishing, analytics and commerce globally, Buddy Media will continue to hire staff at a rapid pace. The company doubled its staff over the past twelve months to approximately 200 employees worldwide.

Ken Mandel, Managing Director, Asia

Ken Mandel is an industry veteran in the digital advertising arena, serving most recently as Regional Vice President of Advertising Sales and Marketplace for Yahoo! Asia Pacific. He joined Yahoo! in January 2008 as Regional Vice President & Managing Director of SE Asia and was tasked with establishing the Internet giant there. He would eventually open four new markets in less than two years.

Before 2008, Ken held regional leadership roles with WPP, where he served as CEO of XM Asia Pacific, CEO of Neo@Ogilvy and Vice President of OgilvyOne Asia Pacific. While at Neo@Ogilvy, Ken grew the digital media network from zero to more than 200 people in just 16 months.

He also helped lead OgilvyOne to two consecutive Regional Agency of the Year titles and was the founder of the multi award winning Ogilvy Digital Innovation Lab responsible for break through mobile marketing innovations for American Express, Diageo, and Nokia Mobile Phones.

Ken completed his Asia-Pacific Management Post-Baccalaureate Program at Capilano College, Vancouver, Canada and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Psychology from McGill University in Montreal. A digital media veteran and frequent industry spokesperson, he currently serves as the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Chairman Singapore, Southeast Asia Chapter and is a board member of the Mobile Marketing Association Asia Pacific, after previously serving as the founding Vice Chairman. Ken is also a Board Council Member of Design Singapore under the Ministry of Information, Communications & the Arts (MICA) and was recently appointed Chairman of the Digital Advertising Alliance Singapore (DAA), an initiative of the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA). Ken, along with his wife, Thet, and two young sons have been residents of Singapore for the past 12 years and consider it home.

Carla Bourque, Senior Vice President, Western Region (U.S.) Sales

Carla Bourque has more than 15 years of experience in sales, marketing, and business development for leading online marketing analytics and technology companies.

Prior to joining Buddy Media, Carla held senior management roles directing revenue and partnerships for Six Apart (acquired by SAY Media), Nielsen Online, Catalina Marketing, Jupiter Media Metrix, and SPINS (an ACNielsen partner). At Nielsen Online, Carla was the Vice President of Media & Entertainment, where she managed the Social Media practice (formerly BuzzMetrics), and directed key client relationships including MySpace, Facebook, HBO, CBS, and Sony.

Carla is a frequent guest speaker on brand strategy, social media, and advertising with key industry organizations including the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), MediaPost, Digital Hollywood, and the Online Media and Marketing Association (OMMA). She earned a B.A. in English from the University of New Hampshire, including a concentration in Marketing and Communications.
