PowerBoat Guide Targets Larger Yachts in New 2012 Edition

American Marine Publishing announced today that the company’s new 2012 PowerBoat Guide has expanded its coverage of late-model trawlers, motor yachts, sport yachts and convertibles to include models up to 75’ in length.

With a depressed economy and increased fuel prices, we decided to beef up this year's coverage of fuel-efficient trawlers and motor yachts.

Citing the continued sales resilience of high-end yachts in today's brokerage market, the editors of the annual PowerBoat Guide (http://www.powerboatguide.com) have increased coverage of large, luxury-class yachts in the company’s new 2012 edition. Now, in addition to featuring hundreds of models in the 27’ to 60’ range, the new PowerBoat Guide provides similar product information for yachts as large as 75’ in length.

“Our job is to respond to market trends,” said Ed McKnew, president of American Marine Publishing. “Right now, that means a sharpened focus on larger boats and a reduced emphasis on small-boat coverage. We make editorial decisions every year about which boats to include, but this is the first year we’ve made such a significant change in the book’s content and direction.”

While the PowerBoat Guide is well known for its coverage of late-model sport fishing boats and family cruisers, it’s the Motor Yachts & Trawlers section that has seen the greatest expansion this year. “Hands down, this is where we’ve seen the most reader interest,” continued McKnew. “With a depressed economy and increased fuel prices, we decided to beef up the book’s coverage of fuel-efficient trawlers and motor yachts. For those interested in reviewing this year’s selections, we posted the entire 2012 Table of Contents on our company web site at http://www.powerboatguide.com/Table_of_Contents.html.”

With specifications, interior layouts, production notes, and resale values for over 1,500 popular models produced since 1985, the PowerBoat Guide has been an essential business tool for marine industry professionals for over 20 years. Written by experienced yacht brokers, the new 2012 edition is available in book or CD format and may be downloaded at http://www.powerboatguide.com.
