Edge Lighting's Soft Line Mounting Hardware with LED Soft Strip earned recognition in the 2011 Lighting for Tomorrow design competition. Soft Line mounting hardware is an indirect lighting installation that can use white or RGB LED Soft Strip (sold separately) to provide soft, ambient, indirect illumination for decorative and architectural applications. The 2011 competition looked at lighting control products including stand-alone, system-based, and whole house devices that are compatible with fluorescent or LED technology.

Using multiple runs of the Soft Line in varying lengths and angels makes for an interesting aesthetic.

“[Soft Line] changes the rules of residential lighting for both the lighting designer and the DIY home owner,” said Terry McGowan, Director of Engineering and Technology for the American Lighting Association.

For the second year in a row, Edge Lighting, a Chicago-based lighting manufacturer, has gained recognition in the ninth annual Lighting for Tomorrow competition which honors the best designs in energy-efficient lighting products for the residential market.

Edge Lighting received the 2011 award for its Soft Line Mounting Channel using LED Soft Strip for illumination.

For compact shipment and storage, Soft Line coils like a retractable tape measure. When uncoiled, the Soft Line becomes a 1.25" wide cupped aluminum channel that can be mounted on any angle between opposing wall, ceiling or floor surfaces in lengths up to 40 feet. This cupped form contributes to the luminaires’ structural rigidity, acts as a heatsink, and also shields the LED lighting and related wiring from view.

Use multiple runs of Soft Lines in varying lengths and angles to create a three-dimensional look that is as functional as it is visually interesting.

Last year, Edge Lighting was a Lighting for Tomorrow winner for their Scope LED Monorail Head and Pendant, both of which have an LED built into the fixture that can be turned by hand to widen or narrow the beam, from a 20° spot to a 50° flood.
