On Friday, September 23rd, Eva Gomez, a senior at the all-girls Catholic High School Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA Cristo Rey) in San Francisco, was the sole student representative at the launch of Voice of Witness’ (VOW) new book Patriot Acts. She confidently presented a passage on oral history to the audience at 826 Valencia.

ICA Cristo Rey students worked with VOW last year to pilot an oral history project. Their project highlighted emotionally charged stories of the underrepresented in society. Social Studies teacher Eileen O'Kane has been working with her students to learn about oral history and participate in projects such as the one done with VOW.
