There has been a recent surge of mobile phone buyback websites that have surfaced online—many of which are based out of personal homes or garages and resell on eBay.

e-Cycle LLC, the market share leader in enterprise wireless buyback and recycling, launched a new Web site at http://www.e-Cycle.com that is designed specifically to address the needs of leading global Fortune companies. As part of the launch, e-Cycle is hosting an “Apple of Your i” promotion that will randomly award four $500 Apple® gift cards to organizations that sell or recycle their cell phones by the end of October.

According to e-Cycle CEO Chris Irion, the redesigned website better reflects e-Cycle’s brand position as a global leader in wireless asset recovery, recycling and data protection for businesses and organizations. He said the new site also differentiates e-Cycle from the rapidly increasing number of consumer-oriented, mobile buyback websites beginning to emerge in the marketplace.

“e-Cycle is proud to be the trusted wireless recycling partner to nearly 7,000 businesses and organizations, including many of the largest companies in the world," said Irion. “There has been a recent surge of mobile phone buyback websites that have surfaced online—many of which are based out of personal homes or garages and resell on eBay. Our leadership team felt it was necessary to redesign our website to better distinguish e-Cycle as a wireless recycling and data protection leader that specifically addresses the needs of enterprises, and as a way to separate ourselves from the less reputable, consumer-driven online cell phone buyback companies.”

As part of the website launch, e-Cycle is offering organizations that sell or recycle their mobile devices before October 31 the opportunity to win one of four Apple® $500 Gift Cards. Irion said that the promotion is designed not only to celebrate the new site but also encourage companies to recycle their used mobile devices responsibly.

“Recycling used mobile devices is not always on the top of the priority list,” Irion said. “Our ‘Apple of Your i’ promotion helps to encourage businesses to recycle in a timely manner, which provides more effective data security and maximizes the monetary value companies receive for their wireless devices.”

According to Irion, since its inception in 2004, e-Cycle has purchased or recycled more than seven million devices, paid clients more than $12 million through its mobile buyback services and kept more than 240,000 pounds of e-waste out of landfills through the company’s complimentary recycling services. Irion said that reusing and recycling these wireless devices prevents the contamination of millions of gallons of drinking water each year due to the leaching of harmful toxins from e-waste in landfills.
