Dr. Fatih Abdulsalam’s new book outlines a wider scene of the backgrounds that led to wage that war on Iraq.

Xlibris, the print-on-demand self-publishing services provider, announced today the release of Setback of the Century, an engaging account authored by columnist and novelist Faith Abdulsalam.

Three months after the US war on Iraq in 2003, Abdulsalam decided to travel to his home town, Mosul in northern Iraq, just to embrace his family members and close friends. He found himself walking along the streets looking at the rubbles and seeking what has been left of his childhood. He was stopped by a US patrol who asked him where he was from and what he was doing there. Immediately he burst out into laughter, a laughter that turned into a philosophical question: "Imagine yourself in my place, what would you answer?” In the evening of the same day, he heard in the news, that a US patrol was hit in an explosion in the same street. The image of the twenty-year-old soldier immediately flashed up in his mind and he suddenly wished he got an answer from that soldier to his question.

This incident and the life-altering events that surrounded it conceived this book. It is an attempt to outline a wider scene of the backgrounds that led to wage that war on Iraq. Stirring, eye-opening, and heart-wrenching, Setback of the Century provides a comprehensive account which will interest not only scholars or Iraqi people, but anyone who desires to know the reason of some nations’ alarming need of war.

This book will be featured at the 2011 Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 12-16, 2011. For more information on this book, interested parties may log on to http://www.XlibrisPublishing.co.uk.
