Yamaha premieres its new, complete line up of DTX Series electronic drum sets. In addition to new modules, many of the DTX kits -- the ones to beat -- feature the innovative DTX-PAD with Textured Cellular Silicone (T.C.S.) technology, which offers musicians an expressive playing experience.
To complement its award-winning DTX950K and DTX900K electronic drum sets, Yamaha introduces the DTX790K, the DTX750K and the DTX700K, offering a revamped module and various configurations of DTX-PAD and cymbal packages. All models feature the new DTX700 Drum Trigger Module, with 64MB of Flash memory, 1,268 drum sounds, DSP effects and 128 keyboard and melodic sounds drawn from the flagship MOTIF synthesizer workstation. Fully computer compatible, the module includes a USB port for storing and loading files, USB to Host device for USB MIDI in and out and Cubase AI Digital Audio Workstation software.
The DTX790K offers a three-zone, 12” T.C.S. snare with controller and three 10” T.C.S. tom-tom pads with control knob and a dedicated kick tower for real bass drum feel. It also includes two three-zone choke-able crash cymbals, a 15” three-zone choke-able ride cymbal and a 13” real hi-hat trigger and controller for natural hi-hat performance. The DTX750K comes with the same cymbal package as the DTX790K, along with one three-zone 10” T.C.S. snare and three eight-inch T.C.S. tom-tom pads. The DTX700 kit includes a three-zone, eight-inch T.C.S. snare pad, three seven-inch T.C.S. tom pads, two large three-zone, choke-able cymbals and a 13” real hi-hat.
The newly designed DTX 500 Drum Trigger Module includes 427 drum, percussion and effect sounds, along with 50 preset drum kits and 20 user-editable kits. It also comes with top-notch digital reverb effects, recording function, MIDI out and a dozen trigger inputs compatible with a wide range of pads and triggers.
The DTX560K comes with a three-zone, eight-inch T.C.S. snare drum pad and three seven-inch T.C.S. tom-tom pads. It also includes two 13”, three-zone choke-able cymbals and a 13” real hi-hat, with stand, for natural hi-hat performance. The DTX530K includes a three-zone eight-inch T.C.S. snare pad, two 13” three-zone, choke-able cymbals and a 13” real hi-hat for natural hi-hat performance and a hi-hat stand. The DTX520K set up includes one eight-inch, three-zone DTX-PAD snare pad, a two-zone hi-hat and two three-zone choke-able cymbals (a 13” ride and a 10” crash). The DTX500 consists of a standard five-piece electronic drum configuration with a kick, snare, three tom-toms, hi-hat and two cymbals. It also includes a foot pedal.
“The DTX electronic drum sets have shaken up the drum market,” said Athan Billias, Director of Marketing, Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division. “Now, we’re bringing this great technology to a much wider range of drummers, who have more choices than ever to experience the DTX T.C.S. pad.”
Yamaha designed its innovative new DTX-PAD with input from the company’s legendary stable of drum artists. The T.C.S. head uses a proprietary manufacturing process that introduces small air bubbles into foamed silicone to provide playability and feel unlike any pad introduced to market. With a different stick response and rebound for the T.C.S snare and tom-tom heads and a hi-hat that responds naturally to both hands and feet, DTX series of electronic drums lets drummers express their passion for rhythm just as they can on an acoustic kit. These drum kits are perfect for quiet practice, playing live or as a controller for VST instruments.
