Another successful "Free Dental Day" was held last Saturday at The Dental Care Center in Fayetteville, NC

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends a visit to the dentist at least once a year to prevent periodontal disease, but in a struggling economy dental care often gets pushed to the back burner - often with devastating results. Untreated dental conditions can worsen rapidly, leading to expensive and invasive solutions down the road.

Recognizing that lack of access to quality dental care has become a serious national health issue, The Dental Care Center in Fayetteville met the challenge this past Saturday, September 24th, by providing free dental services to individuals without dental coverage. Skilled staff were on hand starting at 8 AM, and stayed available throughout the day to provide excellence in dental care to community members in need. Services included preventive care such as cleanings as well as basic extractions and fillings.

The Dental Care Center has practices in Durham, Fayetteville, Greenville, Rocky Mount, Smithfield, Wake Forest and Wilson, N.C. Each practice is actively involved in the local community, with dentists and staff participating by personally donating time to service organizations, promoting dental health awareness, and supporting local charities.

This year, the Fayetteville practice has already contributed positively to schools in the community by participating in the company wide “Teachers Need Stuff” drive, a multi-practice community effort that help provide supplies to local classrooms. The recent Free Dental Day is the sixth hosted by The Dental Care Center, bringing the Center’s contribution to local communities to hundreds of thousands of dollars in dental services.

The Free Dental Day in Fayetteville was a resounding success. The first patient lined up at 5 pm the night before, reinforcing the need for access to dental care - over 60 patients were seen over the course of the day and over $30,000 worth of free dental care delivered by The Dental Care Center. Sponsor Chik-Fil-A provided breakfast for the volunteers who turned out to make the Free Dental Day a success, and the local Zaxby's donated lunch.

The Dental Care Center offers general dentistry, preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry services for patients of all ages. Medicaid and all insurance plans are accepted.
