CapSite™ announces the release of the 2011 U.S. Radiology Information System (RIS) Study. The study is the most recent in a series of CapSite strategic industry reports focused on the Imaging IT market. The study represents unique Voice of Customer (VOC) insight from more than 360 hospitals on the market opportunity, market share and vendor mind share across the U.S.
“The objective of the study was to assess how the HITECH Act focus on stimulating the adoption and Meaningful Use (MU) of EHR’s is impacting the RIS market. We found that the majority of hospitals have chosen to work with their current RIS/PACS vendor as part of their strategy to document and achieve Meaningful Use with their RIS/PACS. Additionally, 50% of study participants have either already applied for MU incentive payments or will be applying in the near future.” says CapSite Sr. VP and GM, Gino Johnson.
Voice of Customer (VOC) highlights from the study:
- 61% of the RIS systems installed in hospitals today are at least five years old
- 71% of study participants were aware that Meaningful Use incentive payments apply to radiologists as eligible physicians under HITECH
- 53% of recent RIS purchases were part of a broader enterprise clinical (EHR) procurement
