Director of Safety to present to the Karate Students, Family and Friends: Faust’s USA Karate

Dr. James Colt, Director of Safety at Monroe BOCES, will speak about cyber bullying other forms of digital abuse that exist today and how parents and families can help keep children safe.

Bullying abuse is becoming out of control with our children and society.

Cyber Bullying, Bullying, Keeping our kids safe are concerns for all parents and families. It starts with bullying which is cruel and unfair treatment towards others. Faust's USA Karate has always taught families in our community to keep children safe. Sensei (teacher) Kathy Faust has worked with NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) since its inception to help keep children safe. In the last 4 years Sensei Faust & USA Karate has donated over $50,000 to NCMEC. Faust's USA Karate was founded in 1986 and is approaching 25 years of providing the best martial arts education for families in Fairport and Rochester's east side.

On Tuesday November 2nd, election day, a day to stand up for our children at 6 p m, Dr. James Colt, Director of Safety for Monroe Boces will give a presentation to Faust's USA Karate students, families, and friends.

Dr. Colt's presentation is free and open to the public will be on "Understanding Cyber Bullying and Digital Abuse." Bullying abuse is becoming out of control with our children and society. Dr. Colt will teach us to take back control of this issue and help keep our children safe. What's most important to a child or teen often is social acceptance by their peers. Technology makes it too easy for kids to bully and get hundreds, thousands, and even hundreds of thousands of people involved. Presentation will include some graphic photos designed for parents and adults only.

Sensei Faust has always used the martial arts to teach children to stand up for themselves. Barbara Coloroso, National Anti Bullying Expert and advocate for anti bullying encourages parents to get their child involved in a reputable martial arts school - Enroll your child in martial arts classes. While it is helpful when children are able to physically protect themselves, these types of classes also give kids other tools -- self confidence, another support system and feelings of empowerment.

If you are looking for your child to be more active, more respectful or just want to enroll them in something fun, karate can provide a lot of enjoyable life lessons. Karate classes and training teach kids how to be confident while also being self disciplined; it focuses on ones strengths and not their weaknesses.

Kids will learn a variety of techniques to overcome challenges such as success through small attainable goals. The fun and supportive atmosphere that karate provides will Increase self confidence to help your child believe in themselves and will promote positive thinking and continual improvement. The constant dedication and discipline will lead to karate success and will help children physically, emotionally, and socially.

Karate is a fun way to enjoy fitness and exercise and it is important for kids to stay active and in shape. Children stay active throughout karate courses with high energy drills that build stamina, coordination and endurance. Skills such as balance, timing, accuracy, and rhythm can all be achieved through karate training. The fun and challenging games and activities make karate fun for kids of all ages.
