Habbo Hotel, the world’s largest social game and community for teenagers, today announced the launch of its first mobile game, “Lost Monkey.” The app is available to download from today onward, worldwide from the Apple app store.

“Lost Monkey” follows a mischievous monkey that has lost its way from Habbo Hotel after entering a broken teleport. He ends up alone and stranded on a tropical island. Players must take care of the monkey; entertaining it with mini-games and helping it survive so that it can return to Habbo Hotel. Upon completion of the game, players can keep the exclusive virtual monkey as a pet in Habbo Hotel.

“Creating a Habbo mobile game continues to grow our product offerings for teens. 'Lost Monkey' gives teens a chance to have Habbo on the go and bring a sharable character back to the Habbo web environment when they want. Wherever teens spend time, Habbo will provide entertainment and a place to socialize with friends,” said Paul LaFontaine, CEO, Sulake, the company behind Habbo.

According to a recent survey of almost 29,000 teens from Habbo Hotel, 89% of respondents have a mobile phone and 51% have a portable media player, such as an iPod Touch.

Playing games is an integral part of mobile usage for teens with 78% of those surveyed who own an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch using it for gaming, the second most popular activity after playing music. 94% of those who own an iPhone or iPod Touch prefer to download gaming applications above any other type of app, with those in France, the U.K., the U.S. and Denmark more avid gamers than those in other countries.

Habbo Hotel has carefully built “Lost Monkey” with teens in mind. When asked what they look for in an app, 75% of teens surveyed wanted something which was fun to play and 47% wanted the app to have controls which are simple and easy to use. Teens also wanted an app which was easy to learn how to use (44%). All of these elements have been built into “Lost Monkey” for the optimum user experience.

The “Lost Monkey” application is now available to download from the Apple app store at: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lost-monkey/id467353705?mt=8
