Although the crime statistics for 2011 are only through September 23 some crimes including Forcible Sex Offenses and Robbery are above or almost equal to reported crimes for the entire year of 2010. However, there is a noticeable reduction in the number of arson reports in 2011. Overall the crimes trends show that to date violent crimes are down 3.2% and nonviolent crimes are down 1.8%. In regards to the current crime rates Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey said, "These first six months' results are a strong indicator of what we will see for 2011, and the downward trend of Florida's crime numbers is a positive sign."
Reports show that the Florida counties with the highest number of crimes reported as of June 2011 are:
