“It’s troubling to see the struggles our military personnel - both active and retired – face, often without much help,” said Viecco. “This reduced fee is one way we can show our appreciation.”

Massive debt is an alarming problem among United States military personnel. A recent study conducted by the Investor Education Foundation of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in consultation with the Treasury Department and the President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy found that military personnel and spouses are generally heavier users of credit cards than civilians, and they are more heavily indebted to credit card issuers.1

New Era Debt Solutions has set out to help fix that situation. The debt settlement firm is offering the services of its debt counselors and negotiators to active and retired military people at 50% off its normal fees.

“Unsecured debt, particularly credit cards and medical expenses, is a huge problem in this country, especially in the armed forces; and one which New Era is uniquely suited to help solve,” said New Era President and Co-Founder, Dan Smith. “We want to show our support of any military men and women who are facing financial hardship by extending our services to help them become debt-free at a discounted rate.”

Clients who enter New Era’s debt reduction program pay a single low monthly payment into an escrow account while the company negotiates with creditors to forgive a portion of the debt. Once a settlement is reached, funds in the escrow account are used to pay off the debt.

“People who complete our program typically save about 40% of their debt total,” said Smith. “It is also a faster way to get out of debt than credit counseling or loan consolidation solutions.”

New Era Vice President and Co-Founder, Alex Viecco, was exposed to the plight of military personnel through his father-in-law, a retired Air Force Airman.

“It’s troubling to see the struggles our military personnel - both active and retired – face, often without much help,” said Viecco. “This reduced fee is one way we can show our appreciation.”
