Driving the evolution of accounts payable through strong partnerships is the theme for this year’s Top Gun event sponsored by APEX Analytix, a leading provider of services and software to safeguard disbursements, identify fraud and improve performance across the procure-to-pay cycle.

Scheduled for October 16-18 in Sonoma, Calif., the event is expected to draw accounts payable, shared services and internal audit executives from many of the world’s largest retailers and multinational corporations. Participants will have an opportunity to share best practices, network with their peers and focus on innovative ways to improve organizational performance.

“Our presentations and discussions will focus on real-world examples that take accounts payable beyond transactional efficiency and cost reduction in order to drive strategic value and protect profits,” says Steve Yurko, CEO of APEX Analytix. “Best-in-class accounts payable teams are partnering internally with procurement, treasury and other organizations to make internal controls more efficient, enhance cash positions, drive global service models and reduce exposure to fraud and risk. They are partnering externally with technology providers, consultants, outsourcers and peer organizations to access skills and innovations that can drive down costs and ensure quality services.”

A number of best practices presentations, case studies and panels are scheduled, with speakers from Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly-Clark, Lowe’s, Sobeys, Verizon Wireless, Walmart, Walt Disney Company, Winn-Dixie and more.

Two special presentations are scheduled. Tracey Coenen of the forensic accounting firm Sequence, Inc. will speak on corporate fraud and risk. Coenen is a CPA, fraud examiner and certified specialist in forensic accounting and the author of two books: Expert Fraud Investigations: a Step-by-Step Guide and Essentials of Corporate Fraud. In addition, Tim Wagner, founder and president of the data-mining company MicroVu, will share tips for healthcare payment auditing.
