“It is so important that all business owners understand the importance of turning business success into charitable community work. After all, we would not be successful as a mortgage bank if it was not for the support of the communities we serve."

The four men who operate RHFC believe it is important to give back to the people in the communities they serve. The owners have elected to give something back by focusing on children in need through their non-profit RHF Foundation. Since its inception in December 2009, the RHF Foundation has provided funding to help children with medical challenges by raising awareness and financial support for programs that enhance the healing environment for children who endure a prolonged hospital stay.
The Foundation raises money through different events, with their bi-annual golf outing raising a substantial amount of the charities’ annual giving. Last year the RHF Foundation held a successful fundraising event at the Lake Mohawk Golf Club in Sparta, NJ. The event raised $10,000 for Newton Memorial Hospital.
“That golf outing was a big success. We took this experience and have built on it to execute even more effective fundraising events this year,” said Residential Home Funding president Tom Marinaro.
In May of this year, the RHF Foundation sponsored its second golf outing and dinner at the Armonk Country Club in Armonk, NY. With attendance reaching over 140 golfers, the event was a huge success. All participants enjoyed an RHF gift bag upon arrival, a BBQ lunch, contests, raffle tickets, and 50/50's with prizes including an iPad, golfing merchandise, and rounds of golf at the Armonk Country Club. The night concluded with a dinner and silent auction emceed by RHF partner and CFO, Julio Salazar, and WOR radio personality, Robert Miller.
“Even though the weather was less than we had hoped for, we had a great turn out. People were more than generous and helped us to exceed our fundraising goals,” said Dana Kyriakou, marketing and events coordinator at the bank.
So generous in fact that the Foundation was able to deliver a check for $25,000 to the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY, a family-centered facility that combines the highest-level care possible in the most supportive and therapeutic environment.
At the ceremony, owner and Foundation member Julio Salazar remarked, "When we started RHF foundation we knew that it was important to help children in need. The Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital has served the New York-New Jersey community well. Interest rates have been so low and we’ve had an amazing year doing home mortgages. It was great to give back to the community."
On Thursday, October 13th RHF Foundation will host another golf outing this year, returning to the Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta. So far the Foundation has had another overwhelming response with all 144 available golfing spots filled. The proceeds of this event will benefit the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation in their mission to create a children’s wing in the emergency room of Saint Joseph’s Hospital.
Following this fall’s event, RHF Foundation expects it will have raised over $60,000 in less than 2 years to benefit children in New York and New Jersey.
“It is so important that all business owners understand the importance of turning business success into charitable community work. After all, we would not be successful as a mortgage bank if it was not for the support of the communities we serve,” said Tom Marinaro, RHFC President.
