The website solarthermalworld.org was created in the framework of the Global Solar Water Heating Market Transformation and Strengthening Initiative. This is a United Nations initiative managed by the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Global Environment Facility and the International Copper Association.
The initiative was launched to accelerate the commercialization and market development of solar heating and cooling in five countries: Albania, Chile, Mexico and India. The proposed objective is to facilitate the installation of at least 1 million m2 of new collector area in each country.
The idea behind the website was to provide a platform for exchange of case studies, best practices, research documents and any relevant information that can help national and local authorities to develop their own national solar water heating and cooling market.
solarthermalworld.org offers the latest updates, news and background information on the development of the international solar thermal sector. Information can be searched by country, region, market sector and pillars for market success (Awareness Raising; Certification; Finance and Incentives; Policy; Standards; Training & Education).
In addition, solarthermalworld.org includes as well a calendar of events, a database of incentive programmes, a directory of companies and associations and it also issues a monthly newsletter.
By sharing first class examples from around the world, the website’s primary aim is to boost a successful market growth in the solar thermal sector.
