Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) October 22, 2012
Motio, Inc., the recognized leader in lifecycle management software for IBM Cognos, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against BSP Software, LLC over the automation of version control in IBM Cognos environments.
The complaint, which was filed on October 10th in the Eastern District of Texas, alleges that BSP Software’s Integrated Control Suite (ICS) and Integrated Version Control (IVC) products infringe upon one of several patents held by Motio for technology found in its MotioCI product.
“Historically, Motio has always been fairly peaceful and unassuming when it comes to our patents,” said Lance Hankins, CTO of Motio. “Unfortunately our competitors do not always operate with the same restraint. BSP has aggressively and willfully infringed upon innovations which Motio has spent years developing, and we will vigorously pursue justice in this matter.”
The Motio patent referenced in this lawsuit (Motio vs. BSP - Case 4:12-cv-00647) is US Patent number 8,285,678, entitled “Continuous Integration of Business Intelligence Software.” The claims at issue pertain to the automation of version control in business intelligence environments.
This patent is one of several issued to Motio for its longstanding MotioCI product. MotioCI is utilized by IBM Cognos customers around the globe to streamline BI development, testing, and release management processes. MotioCI has provided IBM Cognos customers with automated version control and automated testing for Business Intelligence content since its initial release in early 2006.
