Mary’s Meals is an international charity that sets up school feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education.

Mary’s Meals provide one daily meal in a place of learning to attract chronically poor children into a classroom where they receive an education that can, in the future, be their ladder out of poverty.

tastecard founding Directors, Matt Turner and Jamie Milner, were delighted with the agreement;

    “We wanted to work with a charity where our members could see that the money donated was actually making a difference. We are aiming to donate £40,000 to Mary’s Meals over the next 12 months, which would build a kitchen, feed and educate around 5,000 children in Malawi for a year. In essence, each person that purchases one of our memberships during the Mary’s Meals promotion will be feeding and educating a child for 12 months. As Mary’s Meals guarantee that a minimum of 93p in every £1 donated is spent on their charitable work, our members can be confident that the money raised will go exactly where it is needed.” commented Matt.

Jamie continues;

    “We were inspired to work with Mary’s Meals after reading the story of a 9-year old girl, Martha Payne, who was blogging about her school dinners to raise money for the charity. We posted about her on Facebook and our fans loved the story – it just showed the affinity that the charity had with our members”.

Abeer Macintyre, Head of Supporter Care for Mary’s Meals, commented:

    “We are delighted that tastecard has announced Mary’s Meals as its chosen charity. It is wonderful that people can enjoy a meal out while knowing they are also feeding and helping to educate the world’s poorest children. It’s a beautiful and life changing gift to them from tastecard customers.”

It costs Mary’s Meals just £10.70 to feed a child for a whole school year. Mary’s Meals are served to over 650,000 children each school day in 16 countries around the world. With the help of tastecard, we hope to reach more children soon. As part of this campaign, tastecard have promised to donate £5 for every new membership purchased at a special offer of £29.95 for a limited time only.
