Featured in the January 2012 issue of Condé Nast Traveler, the Gold List ranks the world’s best resorts on the quality of rooms, service, food, location, design and activities.

Also topping the list this year are The Inn at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, S.C., and Esperanza in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. To mark the 25th anniversary of Condé Nast Traveler, the magazine introduced its “Platinum Circle,” which recognizes members that have appeared on the list for five consecutive years. Auberge du Soleil, The Inn at Palmetto Bluff and Esperanza were all awarded “Platinum” distinction.
“It is an honor to year after year satisfy the high expectations of Condé Nast Traveler readers,” said Mark Harmon, CEO of Auberge Resorts. “This accomplishment is a result of our resorts’ unwavering dedication to provide our guests with the most memorable and personalized experiences possible.”
The Gold List rankings are culled from the top scores of the annual Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards, which were in announced in October 2011. These scores are at the discretion of the publication’s thousands of well-traveled readers. Hundreds of hotels and resorts are reviewed but a property must meet a minimum number of responses, determined by the magazine, in order to be included.
