Ryan Hamner, who is a 4-time survivor of cancer (Hodgkin’s Lymphoma), recently filmed a music and cancer awareness video for his new song, “Survivors Survive,” a song for survivors around the world. The video features actual cancer survivors.

Ryan, who has been writing and recording music since the age of 14, has battled cancer since the age of 5. He is the creator of the “Hear the Heart” tour where he performs for others affected by cancer, and most recently, the online community for survivors, 2survive.

After recording “Survivors Survive” with the help of producer Jeff Tomei (Matchbox 20, Edwin McCain), Ryan had hoped to record a music video for the new song featuring pictures of real cancer survivors throughout the video. “I had every intention of recording a music video right after recording the song, but didn’t have the money to do so. So my mom and some friends helped me shoot this thing on a cheap little camera,” Hamner said. Ryan went on to say, “It’s funny, I was given quotes for $5k to $25 to shoot a video, but in the end I decided it was all about the message and connecting with people affected by cancer. And I think I was able to do just that!”

The video for “Survivors Survive” can be seen on the website for survivors, 2surviveonline.com and Youtube; and the song, “Survivors Survive,” can be downloaded on itunes. Hamner hopes the video will help raise awareness and hopes to one day to use his music to raise funds for cancer research.
