A quick and affordable way for Pilates professionals to learn the pedagogical techniques of renowned teacher Rael Isacowitz

Qualified Pilates teachers from recognized schools will soon have the rare opportunity of learning the techniques practiced and taught by Pilates authority Rael Isacowitz and his teaching academy, BASI Pilates®.

BASI Pilates has announced the launch of ProBridge, a bridging course for Pilates professionals who want to study the methods that have propelled BASI into the top echelon of Pilates education. Taught by Rael Isacowitz himself, the first course will begin on March 2, 2012 at On Center Conditioning, the BASI Pilates home studio in Costa Mesa, CA.

Subsequent courses will be scheduled for other parts of the US and BASI teaching centers around the world.

Described by Pilates Elder Kathy Grant as “the male that Mr. Pilates wished for to continue his work,” Rael Isacowitz has been studying and teaching Pilates for over 30 years. During that time he has not only made a name for himself as one of the most gifted practitioners of the method but as one of the most innovative as well.

ProBridge students will study several of his contributions to the study and practice of Pilates, including the BASI Block™ System, a method of categorizing the entire repertoire in a sequential structure, the BASI Flow principles for designing a holistic and comprehensive program and the unique BASI method of exercise analysis. Students will also learn a new repertoire for the Avalon system, a contemporary interpretation of Joseph Pilates’ classic equipment that was designed by Rael.

In the past, Pilates professionals who wanted to enhance their skills by studying the BASI methods needed to take the full BASI Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Training Course (CTTC) – and many of them did. Professional development has always accounted for a significant proportion of CTTC students.

Professional development is now quicker and cheaper with ProBridge. The curriculum assumes that participants have the anatomical background that every Pilates teacher requires and focuses on the methods and skill sets that are proprietary to BASI. The course does not have any observation of practice teaching requirements.

For BASI graduates, ProBridge is recommended as a refresher course, prior to acceptance for the advanced Ultimate Program, which comprises the Mentor, Master and Master Reunion courses
