Eleven Chrysler Group models were named Top Safety Picks for 2012

Briggs Chrysler-one of the leading Chrysler dealerships in Lawrence, Kansas would like to announce that recently 11 different Chrysler Group models earned Top Safety Picks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The 2012 models included the Chrysler Town & County, 300 and 200; the Dodge Grand Caravan, Durango, Charger, Journey and Avenger; Jeep Grand Cherokee and Patriot and the Fiat 500. Each year the IIHS honors vehicles who prove that they do the best job at protecting drivers and passengers in front, side, rollover and rear crashes. The tests are based on a rating of “good” by the Institute.

This isn’t the first time that many of the Chrysler Group models have seen this list, the Dodge Journey and Avenger have been named Top Safety Picks four straight years and the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger have earned their second consecutive perfect score. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango and Chrysler 200 also returned to the list.

To earn a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS, a vehicle must perform well in a series of tests and earn scores of “good”. Vehicles must also be equipped with standard electronic stability control systems.
