The launch of Lex Products’ EverGrip® Molded Class L cable extensions, tie-ins and adapters, will provide the U.S. Military access to unprecedented quality, safety and reliability for portable power distribution. Lex Products Corporation, a North American leader in power distribution and control systems, is the first manufacturer to offer molded Class L assemblies that meet MIL-DTL-22992 requirements.
“The United States military has an exceptional need for portable power distribution systems that can withstand rough treatment and harsh environments,” said Joe Birchak, senior vice president of Lex Products’ Military Power Systems. “Lex Products’ innovative overmold technology delivers a new level of safety and durability.”
EverGrip’s extraordinary strength is derived from a 2-part mold process. The core of EverGrip is a thermoplastic resin premold, which provides a mechanical bond between the cables and connectors, and encapsulates contacts and conductors to prevent damage. A solid Santoprene™ overmold absorbs impact to protect internal parts, eliminating shorts due to stray conductors. The unique EverGrip design is patent pending.
Weighing significantly less than traditional aluminum connectors, use of Evergrip molded cables can result in substantial savings in transportation and handling costs. EverGrip’s ergonomic design makes it easier to handle, and includes a flexible strain relief that extends cable life. Rugged one-piece construction prevents infiltration of contaminants and eliminates joints and loosening of assembly screws caused by vibration and rough handling.
EverGrip extensions have been tested by a Nationally Recognized Test Lab (NRTL) to meet or exceed the test requirements of military specification MIL-DTL-22992, including di-electric voltage withstand, drop test, cable pull force, insulation resistance test, and submersion test.
In 2011, Lex Products received ISO 9001:2008 certification for the design and manufacture of cable assemblies. ISO 9001 is an international standard, created by the International Organization for Standardization, that mandates requirements for an organization’s quality management system.
